Counselling in Bristol and online

Are you looking for help with anxiety and depression, low mood or relationship issues? Perhaps you are struggling with addiction or grieving for a loved one. You could be searching for meaning or purpose in life. I offer counselling in Bristol and online, so you can access support wherever you are.

This might be your first counselling experience, or you may be looking for extra support with an old problem. Whatever stage you’re at, I offer a relational style of counselling that is nurturing, safe and containing. I’ll provide you with the space and time to explore the issues that bring you here.

We’ll work together to explore, pay attention, and process what’s happening for you. This can be a transformative process, leading to reduced anxiety and depression, increased self-acceptance and confidence, and a new sense of identity.

But it can also be hard work, so a solid commitment to seeing it through is vital. Research shows that the most important factor in successful counselling is a client’s readiness to start and willingness to engage in the process.

That’s why I will encourage you to come to sessions even when you really don’t feel like it. This is often when the most powerful and useful work takes place. And I invite you to bring all of yourself — even the bits that feel unacceptable. Your frustration, anger and shame are all welcome. I will accept you exactly as you are, always.

Counselling can help you:

  • understand and work with anxiety, low mood or emotional overwhelm
  • explore relationship patterns and communication difficulties
  • process grief, loss or life transitions
  • navigate stress, burnout or work-related pressure
  • make sense of addiction or coping behaviours
  • reconnect with meaning, purpose or a sense of self

So if you feel that you are ready to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in, the chances are that this is the right time for you to take the first step.

What to expect

First, we’ll book in an initial appointment. This is an opportunity for us to see if we can work together. You’ll get a sense of how I work, I’ll get to know a bit about what brings you, and together we’ll see if we ‘click’.

After the session I suggest that you take a day or two to decide. To do this, I suggest you consult with your gut feeling as our intuition is a very good guide in these matters.

If we decide to proceed, then I will offer you a specific time and day for our weekly sessions. It’s important to maintain momentum so I don’t often recommend less than weekly meetings.

This is deep work, and so we need to take a little time – I suggest a minimum of 12 weeks, after which it’s up to you to decide when it’s right to end. I ask for at least a week’s notice though. Endings are important and it’s important to end our work mindfully.

Fee: for individual counselling my fee is £70. I do have a limited number of concessionary places so do ask if cost is a barrier.
