Couples counselling in Bristol and online

Relationships take work. Without positive attention, couples can drift apart or fall into destructive patterns. It can feel like there’s no way back — that’s when relationship therapy can help. I offer couples counselling in Bristol and online, so you can access support wherever you are.

My focus in couples counselling is to help you learn effective ways to communicate, connect and heal your relationship, so that it can be the safe, loving and bonded place that you both yearn for.

I offer a relational style of couples counselling that is dynamic, safe and containing. Unlike individual work I will sometimes take a hands-on, directive approach. We will look at relational patterns from childhood or in previous relationships. This isn’t easy and it can stir up strong feelings, but understanding the obstacles from the past can be transformative.

Couples counselling can help you:

  • improve communication and connection, so you can really hear each other
  • work through conflict in healthier ways
  • rebuild trust after betrayal or hurt
  • reconnect emotionally and physically
  • navigate life transitions together (parenthood, career changes, loss)
  • understand patterns that keep you stuck
  • decide whether to stay together or separate with clarity and kindness.

So if you're both ready and willing to do the work of rebuilding connection, then let's get stuck in.

What to expect

First, we’ll book in an initial appointment. This is an opportunity for us to see if we can work together. You’ll get a sense of how I work, I’ll get to know a bit about what brings you, and together we’ll see if we ‘click’.

After the session I suggest that you take a day or two to decide. To do this, I suggest you consult with your gut feeling as our intuition is a very good guide in these matters.

If we decide to proceed, then I will offer you a specific time and day for our weekly sessions. It’s important to maintain momentum so I don’t often recommend less than weekly meetings.

This is deep work, and so we need to take a little time – I suggest a minimum of 12 weeks, after which it’s up to you to decide when it’s right to end. I ask for at least a week’s notice though. Endings are important and it’s important to end our work mindfully.

Fee: for couples counselling my fee is £100. I do have a limited number of concessionary places so do ask if cost is a barrier.
